Using the Critical Social Education Model of Youth Work, as adapted by the organization, the Youth Worker working alongside the youth work team, will primarily be involved in identifying and engaging with young people at risk in the community. The suitable candidate will engage in direct face to face interaction with young people through group activities, one to one’s, centre based and outreach work, along with other issue based areas of work as identified. The role will also entail the planning, development, implementing and evaluating of developmental/educational programmes to meet the needs and interests of the young people, in line with the organisation’s strategic plan.
The detached worker (s) will be expected to work as part of a dedicated detached youth work team who will work to build relationships with young people in the Royal Canal/Pelletstown area. This work will involve identifying areas where young people congregate and working in partnership with them to assess their needs and develop and deliver specific programmes to meet these needs. This role will also involve supporting a researcher to engage the young people in research work being carried out in the area.
