The detached worker (s) will be expected to work as part of a dedicated detached youth work team who will work to build relationships with young people in the Royal Canal/Pelletstown area. This work will involve identifying areas where young people congregate and working in partnership with them to assess their needs and develop and deliver specific programmes to meet these needs. This role will also involve supporting a researcher to engage the young people in research work being carried out in the area.
Using the Critical Social Education Model of Youth Work, as adapted by the organisation, the Youth Worker working alongside the youth work team, will primarily be involved in identifying and engaging with young people at risk in the community. The suitable candidate will engage in direct face to face interaction with young people through group activities, one to one’s, centre based and outreach work, along with other issue based areas of work as identified. The role will also entail the planning, development, implementing and evaluating developmental/educational programmes to meet the needs and interests of the young people, in line with the organisation’s strategic plan.

The post has responsibility for the general management of the project to include staff, facilities and programme delivery.
The Project Leader will be a key driver of the strategic goals of Cabra for Youth clg, its board and its core funders. They will represent and advocate for Cabra for Youth at a local and regional level, though network and relationships building, promotion & collaboration and being a part of the wider Youth Work and Youth Justice conversation.
They will support and coordinate the successful implementation of the targeted, needs led, youth focused, and outcomes driven requisites of the UBU Your Space Your Place Youth Work and IYJS Youth Diversion service provision and will be pivotal in securing resources for same.
